Vernon S . “Pete” Hidy’s stature in Fly Fishing history is not ambiguous to those who knew him. He was the main instigator in convincing Jim Leisenring to share over 50 years of keen insight of fly tying and fly-fishing into a book form. Co-written with Leisenring The Art of Tying the Wet Fly was a masterpiece as soon as it was published, and is the cornerstone for American wet fly and nymph tying and fishing. V.S. Hidy was held in high esteem by many great fishermen, such as G.E.M.Skues , Rube Cross and Harry Darbee to name a few. Thankfully the Hidy family has preserved Pete’s fly fishing collection and substantial literary works. This is the first installment of hopefully many. Enjoy.
